A good dark mode is more than inverted colors

Dark interfaces need their own contrast decisions instead of a mechanical swap.

The fastest dark mode usually looks acceptable for five minutes and tiring after twenty. The problem is often border contrast, not background color.

Muted text and quiet surfaces need as much care as primary text.
